Courtesy of Dr. Susan Williams:
On 24 December 2024 in the late afternoon New York time, the UN General Assembly adopted without a vote a Resolution to continue the UN inquiry led by Justice Othman into the possible causes of the plane crash in which former UN Secretary-General Dag Hammarskjöld and fifteen others died in 1961.
The Resolution was presented by Sweden and is here.
The number of co-sponsors was 141, which includes Sweden and the non-member Permanent Observer State of Palestine.
This number of co-sponsors represents 72.3% of the total number of 193 UN Member States + 2 non-member Permanent Observer States.
Yet again the US and the UK did not co-sponsor the Resolution.
There is UN Web TV coverage of the General Assembly session in which the Resolution was adopted. The relevant section begins at 01.10.15 and ends at 01.15.04.
This is at last some good news in the lead-up to 2025.
