LBJ Phone Calls

Lyndon Johnson secretly tape-recorded a great many conversations while President, and transcripts and tapes of these are still being released in the year 2001. The tapes begin right on LBJ's first day as President, November 22, 1963. These earliest tapes were apparently made using a Vice- Presidential taping system, though no tapes recorded during his Vice- Presidency have been made public.
